Why the NMEA 2000 connector called M12 Micro-Change ?
M12 Micro-Change is an industrial-standard circular connector interface.
M12 refers to the connector's thread diameter of 12 millimeters.
Micro-Change is the name of an industrial-grade quick-connect style originally used in industrial automation.
NMEA 2000 uses 5-pin M12 A-coded circular connectors because they are :
Corrosion-resistant
Waterproof rated IP67
Compatible with CAN bus systems
Suitable for marine and harsh environments
NMEA 2000 standard directly adopted the hardware interface specifications from DeviceNet，an industrial CAN-based network , which is why it uses the M12 Micro-Change connector.
