RS-485 communication protocol in AISG RET cable

AISG RET connection cable, what communication protocol is used when controlling and adjusting the angle of the base station antenna?

AISG RET Remote Electrical Tilt connection cable control cable mainly uses the AISG 2.0 or AISG 3.0 protocol. These protocols define how to remotely control the electrical tilt angle of the antenna, ensuring signal optimization.

In the AISG RET, Remote Electrical Tilt system, the RS-485 communication protocol is used for data transmission between the base station antenna and the control equipment.

The following are some introductions to the application of RS-485 in AISG RET cables:

1. RS-485 Overview

RS-485 is a serial communication protocol widely used in industrial automation and data acquisition systems. It supports half-duplex and full-duplex communication, enabling stable data transmission over long distances and multi-device networks.

2. AISG Agreement

AISG, Antenna Interface Standards Group protocol is a standard specially designed for antenna systems and is mainly used for the control and monitoring of base station antennas. The AISG protocol includes multiple versions, such as AISG 1.1, AISG 2.0, and AISG 3.0, which specify how to control antennas in RET systems through RS-485 communications.

3. Application of RS-485 in AISG RET control cable

Data transmission: Control commands and feedback data are transmitted between the antenna controller (or base station) and the antenna itself over an RS-485 cable. These commands adjust the electrical tilt of the antenna to optimize coverage.

Communication protocol: The AISG protocol defines the structure and transmission format of data packets. It specifies how control commands (such as commands to adjust the angle) are encoded into messages conforming to the RS-485 protocol and sent to the antenna controller over the RS-485 cable.

Connection and setup: In actual applications, the RS-485 communication cable needs to be connected correctly to ensure the pairing of the data cables (A and B) and the ground cable. AISG RET systems typically require a twisted pair for RS-485 communications to reduce interference and signal loss.

4. Example

Suppose you want to adjust the electrical tilt of an antenna. You would:

1. Through the control software: Enter the target angle, and the control software encodes the command into a message that conforms to the AISG protocol.

2. Send commands: The software sends these commands to the antenna controller via the RS-485 interface.

3. Controller parsing: The antenna controller receives the command, parses it and performs corresponding adjustments.

4. Feedback: The antenna device will return a feedback message and send it back to the controller through the RS-485 communication cable to confirm whether the adjustment is successful.

In this way, the RS-485 protocol ensures data reliability and accuracy during antenna adjustment.
